More than 30 years of experience in Orthopedics, he now focuses on scoliosis, spine tumor, congenital hip dislocation, diagnosis, and treatments.
Establish China's first multi-disciplinary cooperation scoliosis research center
In 2008, the first domestic scoliosis research center was established in the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-Sen University. The center consisted of 17 departments including more than 50 expert level members. More than 2000 cases of clinical operations had been done, including surgeries with respiratory function less than 30%, spinal deformity with paraplegia surgery, severe scoliosis with spinal cord malformation surgery, severe kyphoscoliosis multiple revision surgeries, and extremely spinal deformity like "coil snake" surgery, and many other international recognized "high-risk" surgeries.
Established a charity project, X-in Miao, focusing on scoliosis prevention
In 2010, with the support of the Guangdong Youth Development Foundation, Yang Jun Lin founded the first domestic charity project focused on scoliosis screening, conservative treatment and surgeries. He gathered a group of orthopedic experts, and together they helped conduct screening and scoliosis surgical related charitable projects.
X-in Miao has invested in public welfare projects for more than ten years. The charity has carried out more than 1.8 million scoliosis screening in schools. Also, it has provided surgical treatments and conservative treatments for more than 280 patients. The charity has established comprehensive prevention and surgical treatments for adolescents. Besides, it has continuously large-scale screening for scoliosis.
Create “X-in Miao Scoliosis Prevention System”
The prevention system is the first kind of method created by experts from various disciplines such as surgical, epidemiology, bracing, rehabilitation, ultrasound, etc. This system includes early screening, comprehensive treatments, and surgical treatment based on the "X-in Miao Scoliosis Prevention System." The system has made a breakthrough in the conservative treatment of 40˚-60˚ scoliosis. By 2019, more than 1.8 million students have completed early screening for scoliosis, 2000 cases of scoliosis surgery, and more than 8000 cases of conservative treatments.
