Is scoliosis genetically inherited?
Scoliosis could be inherited. For instance, neurofibromatosis type, Marfan syndrome, and congenital scoliosis all have obvious genetic tendencies towards scoliosis. We highly encourage patients to pay attention to their family's history of genetic diseases. Although research on genetic inheritance is on-going, the primary causation is still unclear. The pattern of inheritance between generations are irregular. Parents shouldn't worry too much, as early discovery and intervention can rectify this disease.
