What are the treatments for scoliosis?
Scoliosis treatment include non-surgical and surgery. For patients with congenital and neuromuscular scoliosis, conservative treatments can only slow down scoliosis and delay surgical treatments to allow children to have a better treatment outcome. For idiopathic scoliosis, early conservative treatment is often better than surgery. Current treatments include a series of cast supports, soft/hard braces, medical training, enhanced rehabilitation, growing rod (GR) technique, orthopedic fusion surgery, and osteotomy surgery. The specific selection should be based on the patient's age, growth rate, type of scoliosis and severity of bending, as well as the general status of the patient.
