What types of patients need surgery and what is the best time for surgical treatment?

In general, surgery should be considered if the scoliosis angle is greater than 40 degrees and if conservative treatment is ineffective or scoliosis continues to develop. Through bracing, medical training and intensive rehabilitation therapy, some patients with 40˚ to 60˚ scoliosis can have satisfactory outcomes without surgery. But it needs to be emphasized that patients must have a higher degree of compliance to achieve such results. Generally, the younger the age, the higher the flexibility and the correction effect, so the optimal age for scoliosis surgery is typically 13-15 years old.
